Jeremy Messersmith came into town with his own personal string section, bringing modern merry minstrels to the Shakespeare Ale House in Austin. Sporting Buddy Holly glasses, Messersmith was sometimes reminiscent of old rock and roll singer with his throwback beats and styling.

However, Messersmith was very much his own in his delicate voice and storyteller lyrics. Songs like Dillinger Eyes and Organ Donor took on a deeper richness thanks to the accompanying strings and echoey nature of the Ale House.

No doubt after hearing the sound there, Messersmith will wish he could take his accompanists and the rock walls with him to every show.
